Paws, And Be Present.

It’s the official first week of December and it’s been a year!

So we at Thrive & Co. want to infuse some lightheartedness into our blog while still providing some thought provoking insight.

Hoping this December is filled with memorable moments that bring you peace, love & joy.

They are present and for the taking…

What Our Pets Teach Us About Presence…

After long days spent solving problems, leading projects, managing expectations, and juggling multiple priorities, most of us come home to a presence who couldn’t care less about KPIs, our pets. They greet us with tail wags, slow blinks, and that uncanny ability to make us smile when they greet us at the door.

Pets are the original mindfulness coaches. Ha!

Here’s what they model better than most professionals (and without ever reading a leadership book):

  1. They live entirely in the moment.
No cat lies awake regretting an awkward meeting. No dog dwells on yesterday’s walk that ended too soon. They’re fully present when it’s playtime, it’s playtime.

  2. They rest without apology.
Nap on the couch at 2 p.m.? Absolutely. Pets don’t earn rest; they just take it. What if we stopped treating downtime as something we have to justify?

  3. They express joy freely.
Whether it’s a treat, a familiar face, they’re favourite little person back from school, or a patch of sunlight, they celebrate small wins constantly. That enthusiasm is contagious.

  4. They love without conditions.
A rough day doesn’t make them withdraw time or affection. They show up steady, consistent, and accepting.

🐾 Here’s to living a little more like them, curious, content, and fully in the moment.
